Follow This Checklist – Be In Good Standing!

Due July 1st – Local Unit New & Returning Officer Contact Information. Please click here to submit the information as soon as elections are held. President must maintain current home addresses, phone numbers & email addresses for the officers. Must submit new registration every year even if there are no changes in officers’ information. Update information throughout the year when changes occur.

Due Monthly (as collected) – State & National Portion of Membership Dues. The State & National portion of dues is paid monthly when memberships are sold. Mail $3.50 per membership sold with the State & National Dues Payment Form. Payment must be received by December 15th to participate in Reflections and other programs. You may request additional membership cards.

Due August 31st – Financial Review must be completed after June 30 each year. Each local unit must complete an Annual Financial Review Form, and email a copy to Florida PTA at [email protected]. Refer to Florida PTA Kit of Materials Dollars & Sense and National PTA Money Matters Guide.

Due September 30th – Insurance/County Council Dues. Each local unit is required, by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, to carry liability insurance. This insurance coverage is provided to each local unit, when County Council Dues are remitted. Certificate of Insurance will be issued upon receipt of payment.

Due November 15th – IRS 990 Filing. All PTAs/PTSAs are required to file IRS 990 by November 15th each year. Failure to do so can/will result in revocation of your 501(c)(3) status. File either 990N (e-Postcard), 990EZ (short form) or 990 (long form.) Due date November 30th – Send copy of IRS 990 Filing to Florida PTA. Email a copy to Florida PTA at [email protected].

Bylaws Must Be Renewed Every Three Years. Bylaws must be reviewed, updated and APPROVED at State Office at a minimum of every 3 years. For more information, please email: [email protected].
